Beginning this new school year- Gardendale-Mt. Vernon will be teaming with True Vine Evangelical Church to provide Backpack Buddies for Tarrant Intermediate School. Backpack Buddies is a nationwide program whose sole intention is to feed hungry children. Many school aged children who receive free or reduced breakfast and lunches at school are often hungry on the weekends. Using the BB model, groups adopt a school and work with school counselors to determine children who are eligible for this program. Bags of food are then put in their backpacks to feed them through the weekend.
